Two Dollars Profit

STRIP #61
Corbin is smart.

I had another extremely frustrating day of poker. This one's too painful to even talk about, but I'll say that I bubbled another final table and this one would have been my biggest final table ever, a $100+9 PokerStars tourney where first place was over $8,200, and 10th was like $229, which is what I got. Just disgusting. Four final table bubbles in the past week now.

Returning Poker Presents

STRIP #60
Today's strip features Adam Junglen, who also helped write it. He's a great young player who writes a nice blog at adamjunglen.com. We were talking on IMs and he said he was annoyed by all the poker related Christmas gifts he got, which led to the writing of this comic.

I had another final table on Ultimate Bet tonight (Tuesday), but also another 7th place finish, ugh. No bad beats in this one, though, but had some horrendous beats in my other tourneys tonight, like AA losing to AQ all-in pre-flop in my biggest event of the night, the $30 rebuy. I've now had seven final tables on UB in the past 16 days, and 15 cashes for a total of about $4,000. It's all starting to come together, and now I'm just waiting for that one BIG score to really get me going.

All-In Baby!

STRIP #59
Merry Christmas to all! Babies are fun.

Too much to talk about today! I'm in one of the worst moods ever right now, because I just made possibly my biggest final table ever and was 2nd in chips going in and then finished 7th after losing three big all-ins where I was a big favorite and got rivered twice and lost on the turn in the other. 1st paid $5,400 and 7th paid $1,000, ugh, not even my biggest cash ever ($1,200). Nightmare.

It was the $30 rebuy $20K guaranteed on Ultimate Bet. I was in for $63 with no rebuy and one add-on, so a profit of $937 for the tourney, but should have been a crazy ton more. In the last four days I've had three final table bubbles (11th place finishes on UB where 10 people make the FT), but I've also had three final tables, and a few other top 20 finishes. So six top 11 finishes in four days, in about 25 tourneys, and I think 10 top 20s. So I'm playing some great poker, but just can't get the big scores, can't get the luck when I need it.

In other news, the +EV tourney got 20 people to show up on Christmas Eve, which was surprising. Drarr won the tourney (and the comic book that goes along with it) and wired_c4 busted me for the bounty. We also played a flipament, my first ever, which I won! I wish I was a luck sack in something other than flipaments!

And in HUGE NEWS, my new comic, Last Blood, launches today! It's about vampires protecting the last surviving humans from zombies so they can live off their blood. I plan to direct an independent film of it in 2007, and I've already got some investors lined up without even actively seeking any yet. No More Misclicks!

STRIP #58
If you think this strip is sappy and unfunny, just wait until Monday's big Christmas Day announcement!

The first printing of the book has totally SOLD OUT, but the second printing is already done and I'm scheduled to receive the new shipment of books on the 27th, so I won't be able to ship out any more orders until then. Thanks for all the orders so far and keep 'em coming! The second issue should go to print pretty soon, by the way.

I just had a pretty crazy night in poker (Thursday). I rarely multi-table, but I decided to fire up six MTTs on Ultimate Bet and I was incredibly still alive with good stacks in ALL of them through the first couple hours. At one point I had over 20,000 chips in five tourneys at the same time, top 10 in chips for all of them. Unfortunately I took some horrible beats, especially TT losing to 88, all-in pre-flop (8 on flop, of course), to cripple me on the final table bubble in the first tourney, and I ended up finishing 11th in that one. I only made one final table and finished 7th there when I lost a couple big races on rivers. Just can't win a race when it counts, ugh. Still a very encouraging night, though. It was really cool to have huge stacks in that many tourneys at the same time. Hopefully I'll get a couple big scores soon. This is four final tables and one final table bubble now in the past 11 days.

Eat Shit and Die

STRIP #57
I might like this strip even more than Monday's. Two winners in a row, in my opinion! And Friday's is all right too. Good week! Oh, and take special notice of Dolly's expressions in this strip. Love it.

I spent most of my birthday (Tuesday) reading this amazing thread, the most popular thread I've ever seen on any forum ever. I'm not even done with it yet and I've been reading it off and on for like 12 hours. Do yourself a favor and read the first post, then keep in mind that eventually in the thread there comes word that Brandi wrote a suicide note in her own blood on a bathroom door that said "I will fly one day." It made the whole day worth it reading that! I told Brandi about +EV shortly after she hit the poker scene big time a couple months ago and she wished me luck with the comic.

On Monday night I had a huge chip lead in the $4,000 guaranteed $3 rebuy tourney on Ultimate Bet for like two hours, but went card dead at the end and entered the final table third out of 10 and horribly busted in 6th when my KJ was no good against KT and my Q4 (short stack push with 10 big blinds) was somehow called by JT (for half his stack) and also lost.

My Hero

STRIP #56
This is one of my favorite strips. Love it.

I just got back from playing poker with Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes. Had a great time. I got two pocket pairs in six hours (44 and 99) and didn't win either hand, and I was the most card dead I've ever been in my poker career, but somehow only finished down $48. I gave Kevin a copy of the +EV comic book (click to order!). Kevin was the big winner on the night, up like $1,000! He did buy us all pizza, though. Seems like a great guy. I might tell more about the game later, but I'm too tired right now.

24 people showed up for the 12th +EV tourney yesterday, including Annette_15, the third ranked player on Pocket Fives. She finished 8th, while Dantalion busted me for the bounty and cwright2 won the whole thing, including the comic book, which I'll be shipping to him today.

On Friday night I finished second in a $6,000 guaranteed Pot Limit Omaha $10 rebuy tournament on Ultimate Bet. I was in for $21 and won $960, although it should have easily been a win for $1,620. Got heads up about even in chips and on one of the first hands we get it all-in pre-flop and I'm a 65% favorite and then I'm drawing dead on the turn. $660 bad beat right there. So painful. I've still never won a significant tourney. That would have been my new biggest cash ever too. Click the image to see the tourney lobby. I'm Pupkin on UB.

Goombas

STRIP #55
I like this one! Not sure how many other people will. Keep in mind that Harold has gone insane from constant drug use in the past few months, and from not eating anything.

Straight Beats Flush

STRIP #54
Harold's really losing it. Sad. I wonder how long someone can live on the food they find stuck in their ears. Harold seems to love it.

Click the button to vote for +EV at Top Web Comics and see the sketch for today's comic.

Oh, and I suggest reading Emmanuel, a comic strip about a depressed dog that a friend of mine makes.

Hooker Hates Harold

STRIP #53
Blah, Harold's horrible. I'll have to try to end this storyline as quick as possible. Maybe Friday!

Just an hour ago I finished 5th in an Ultimate Bet $10K guaranteed tournament. I was a gigantic chip leader with 15 left, but couldn't win a couple big races in the end and missed out on a huge score. First place was $3,000 and my biggest cash ever is just $1,200. Even third place would have eclipsed that, but the cards didn't fall my way and I went out 5th for $778. Not bad for a $30+3 buy-in. I haven't played much poker lately and this was one of only three or four tourneys that I played all week. Click the image to see the final lobby. I'm Pupkin on UB.

It was another fun +EV tourney yesterday! WastedMnd420 busted me for the bounty and cellmax took home first place and the comic book that goes along with it!

You should all read Adam Junglen's blog. He's a big fan of the comic and an incredible poker player. In the past five weeks alone he's cashed for over $30K online, and he plays a lot of live tourneys as well, even though he's only 19! He'll be competing in his first World Poker Tour event next month.

Hookers and Drugs

STRIP #52
I love how Harold wears a t-shirt with his old fat face on it. I wonder which hooker or drug dealer took his golden bowtie as payment. The only thing he has left of value is his golden flat cap, it seems. Poor Harold.

Keep voting for +EV at Top Web Comics! Click the button to see the pencil sketch for today's comic.

Don't miss Sunday's +EV tourney! $5 buy-in, $5 bounty on my head, winner gets the +EV comic book! All details HERE! And look, a crappy webcam video I just made that shows the book!

Turn the SOUND OFF, as there's some annoying noises, and sorry for the low quality -- first video I've ever put on YouTube.

I don't have a fancy order page up yet, but if you want to buy the book, it's $5, plus shipping, and you can pay through PayPal, Neteller, or a PokerStars or Ultimate Bet transfer. E-mail me with your address and I'll give you the shipping cost.

EDIT: The fancy order page for PayPal is up. Continue to e-mail me for non-PayPal orders. I actually prefer Stars transfers, since there's no fee that way!

Good Game, Sir

STRIP #50
50 comics, hooray! I probably should have done something special for the 50th strip, but perhaps an appearance by Kevin Smith counts as special enough in today's strange comic. I'm a big fan of Kevin Smith's blog at silentbobspeaks.com, especially the early days when he'd talk about all the mundane details of his daily life, which mostly involved pooping while doing things on the internet. He's also a big reason why I got into poker, because reading about him playing poker on Ultimate Bet is what got me to finally sign up for a poker site and play, and UB was my first site. I don't know Kevin's UB name, but I know the name of Jason Mewes and I've played against him a couple times.

22 players showed up for yesterday's +EV tourney and it was tehmac who stole the show, knocking me out in 5th place for the bounty and going on to win the tournament and the first issue of the +EV comic book, which will be on sale soon on this site, probably Wednesday!
