Another Baby

STRIP #48
Hey, my internet just got hooked up in my new apartment! Very happy. Today's strip isn't good. And I'm actually a fan of Annie Duke, by the way, and think she's a very good player. I've read her book and liked it a lot, and even learned some about Omaha 8/b, even though it's an autobiography and not a teaching book. Corbin's a jerk!

Oh, and hey, I actually WON a tourney last week when I had internet access in a hotel room. It was just a $4 180-player SNG on PokerStars, but it felt good to win! I played horribly and got very lucky. Here's the animated hand history on PokerXFactor. You may need to sign up for a free PXF account to watch.

Princess Amazia Poker

STRIP #47
I still don't have consistent internet access and I've been very busy moving into my new apartment and getting settled here, so my brother wrote most of this one too. I like it!

Congratulations to Don Funghi for not only winning the 9th weekly +EV tourney yesterday, but also knocking me out for the bounty!

Cat Bed

STRIP #46
My brother wrote this one too and it's horrible! Wednesday's was good, though. I'll be back to writing them on Monday! I think Scarlett switched the deck to all aces in the middle of the night, by the way. Either that or aliens did it.

Make sure to play in the +EV tournament on Sunday at 3 PM ET! Just a $5 buy-in! All details HERE!

Wii Kills Affleck

STRIP #45
I'm having a horrible time in California trying to find an apartment! Very frustrating days. I hate staying in a hotel. Expect things to get back to normal on the site by Monday at the latest.

Today's strip was written by my brother Chris, who makes the comic Superosity and writes Sore Thumbs. He's also written Friday's upcoming strip. But hey, it was my idea to give Affleck the beer bottle, so I helped!

Need Another Laptop

STRIP #44
I like this one! And hey, I'm in Vegas! I played a tourney at the Sahara last night and donked off all my chips about three hours in. Fun to play a live tourney, though. I'll write more about it later probably. Funniest moment of the tourney, for me at least, was when I was talking to an old guy sitting next to me and he asked to see my PokerXFactor card cover (click for photo). He was about 70 and he had to put on his "eyes" (glasses) to read where it said PokerXFactor.com. He gave it back to me and I said, "It's a good web site." He said, "Oh, I gave up on that stuff years ago." But the thing is, I never said it was a training site and it's not at all evident by the name that it's a training site, so I think he just meant that he gave up on the internet in general years ago.

No time to put up a new voting incentive today, but you can still click the button below to vote for +EV on Top Web Comics and see the original pencil sketch for today's comic.

Moving Back to California!

I lived in Los Angeles County from 0-23, then spent the last two and a half years in Nebraska and South Dakota, but I'm moving back to L.A. today! Got about 2,000 miles of driving to do and I plan on stopping in Vegas along the way. I'm probably going to be a no-show for the +EV tourney tomorrow, but I'm registered and I'll give the bounty to the person who busts me when I blind out (e-mail me about it).

If anyone knows about any cheap apartments in the San Gabriel Valley, send an e-mail to bobbyc512@gmail.com!

Sports Betting

STRIP #43
Corbin should be happy now that Kevin Dyson came up one yard short and the Rams beat the Titans in Super Bowl XXXIV. If Corbin won his bets on that game he might not have ever met Violet, or got any help with his sports betting problem. By the way, I called a gambling line while writing this strip and a young female voice answered, "Problem gamblers help line, can I help you?" So it's realistic!

Click the image to vote for +EV and see the sketch for Monday's comic, which looks like a fun one!

And don't forget to play in the +EV tournament on Sunday at 3 PM ET! It's just a $5 buy-in this week, which will hopefully allow more people to play. All details are in this thread in the forums!

Pot Committed #2

STRIP #42
Same punchline as Monday, I know. I wrote the golf comic and then I had another idea for a "pot committed" situation and decided to just do both.

Click the image to vote for +EV and see the sketch for Friday's comic, which flashes back to when Violet and Corbin first met in the last two panels. See Violet with short hair! Exciting!

Pot Committed

STRIP #41
Today's strip might be the worst ever! And Wednesday's has almost the exact same punchline, but it's slightly funnier, mostly because it features the hilarious face below.

Click the image to vote for +EV and see the full pencil sketch for Wednesday's comic!

If you're wondering why Corbin doesn't have any woods in his golf bag, it's because he threw them all in the lake earlier in the round.

We all had a good time in the +EV tourney yesterday. Only 17 showed up, though, so let's get some more new faces on Sunday! Click here to see the final tournament lobby. Congratulations to swenie, who won first place for $85 and the first issue of the +EV comic book! There was also an $11 bounty on L8Bloomer this week and swenie won that too! KongWinther's 83 offsuit beat my AQ to win the $11 bounty on my head.

Just Like Gremlins

STRIP #40
I like this one. That guy's evil and I'm glad he's homeless and that every bone in his body is broken.

Today's TWC voting incentive is the pencil sketch for Monday's upcoming comic. I hate the current dialogue that I have for it, so I'm asking for your help! Write some funny lines and if I use them for the strip I'll send you a free copy of the first +EV comic book! Click the button below and confirm your vote to see the sketch.

If you have a suggestion for the dialogue, please post it in this thread or e-mail me at bobbyc512@gmail.com.

And don't forget to play in the +EV tournament on Sunday at 3 PM ET! All details are in this thread in the forums!

Welcome Back, Dolly!

STRIP #39
Dolly sure looks happy in the last panel. You'll discover why in Friday's strip, which ends the storyline.

Today's TWC voting incentive is a comic that was almost the first +EV strip. Corbin lived in Washington state in this version and he runs into a little trouble with the law. Click below to see!

Tiger Claw didn't follow the script on this one and he added a few lines, including the store owner with the shot gun in the last panel. The next strip was going to reveal that the kid wasn't actually a cop, but just playing a prank with a fake badge. He's an 18-year old poker player named Scotty and Corbin was going to join his home game. I decided to go in a different direction, though.

Bye, Dolly!

STRIP #38
I like this one. I sure hope that something happens on Wednesday to allow Scarlett to keep Dolly, though!

Want to see Tiger Claw's first sketch of the +EV characters? Including a brand new character who I ended up not using in the comics? Just click the button below and confirm your vote to see!

The short kid between Corbin and Violet is named Scotty. He was originally going to be Corbin's main poker buddy. Wednesday's voting image will reveal what was almost the first +EV strip, which showed how Corbin and Scotty met, so come back for that.

Yesterday's sixth +EV tourney had a lot of new faces, and I hope to see even more of you next Sunday! L8Bloomer won the tournament and the first issue of the +EV comic book, while K3n4t knocked me out in 17th place for the $11 bounty.

Here's a cool screen capture from Saturday showing that the last 20 visitors to plusev.net came from 14 different countries (flags on the right). One of these days I'll catch a moment where all 20 came from different countries!

Lucky Cat

STRIP #37
I don't like today's strip, but Monday's will be much better. I just put up a new BONUS COMIC for those of you who vote for +EV at Top Web Comics. Click the button below to discover where Violet works in today's never before seen strip.

This comic (vote to see) was originally supposed to run on the site in August, but I wasn't happy with the writing or the art. I plan to tell a more complete story of how Corbin and Violet met soon.

Getting back to today's Lucky Cat strip, I do like having another reference to Princess Amazia, who Scarlett dressed up as for Halloween. I just bought PrincessAmazia.com and I'm considering starting up a Princess Amazia comic, with the goal of getting its own animated TV show!

Click here to see a screen capture of this site's statistics, showing that the last 20 visitors came from 13 different countries (notice the flags on the right). I keep wanting to catch a moment where all 20 came from different countries.

And hey, I almost forgot -- don't forget to play in the sixth weekly +EV private tournament on Sunday! All the details are in this thread in the forums!

Hello, Dolly!

STRIP #36
Look, a kitty! I'm not a big fan of cats (dog person), but Scarlett loves them, so hopefully she's found a good friend in Dolly. For those of you who don't know, the hand ten-deuce is known as the Doyle Brunson, whose nickname is Texas Dolly, because in both of his World Series of Poker Main Event wins he held ten-deuce on the final hand, making a full house each time. I'd like to thank +EV fan Sanna for suggesting the idea for this comic.

I just joined Top Web Comics, a site that ranks comics based on voting, so please click on the button below to vote for +EV!

After you confirm your vote, you'll get a special treat, a NEW +EV COMIC, never before seen. It's basically a deleted comic, since I decided it wasn't good enough to run on the site after it was made in August. I also wanted to introduce Violet's job in a different way, which will hopefully happen soon.

In other news, I just got the cover from the artist for the first issue of Last Blood, the new comic that I'll be starting up soon on lastblood.net. Click the image below to check out the full cover by Owen Gieni, who also draws Sore Thumbs. I look forward to working with him more on this project.

Don't forget to play in the sixth weekly +EV private tournament on Sunday! All the details are in this thread in the forums!

And speaking of the forums, start posting there! We've had lots of comments for recent blog posts, as many as 20 for one last week, but the forums are dead. So I'm disabling comments now in the blog and forcing you to post in the forums! I'll start a thread for each strip from now on, so you can comment there.
