For those who don't know, Gavin Griffin is the only player to ever win WSOP, WPT and EPT titles. He's actually a really nice guy and has probably never said "Who the fuck are you, asshole?" to anyone, but I decided to make him a bit crazy for the comic. He's in the next few strips too.

Sorry about no updates in ages -- went to the emergency room on June 8 and had two gallbladder related surgeries, the second of which was botched, forcing me to stay in the hospital for eight damn days. Prior to that I played three WSOP events, barely cashing in Event #2 and failing to cash in Events #5 and #6. I played with tons of top pros and I doubled through Kenny Tran and John Phan in Event #2, both of whom went on to win bracelets this year, including two for John Phan. I had some cool hands with Phan and talked to him a lot -- always been a fan of his (and Tran's). Full details still coming later for all that! And new strips should start soon as well!

The thread appears to be deleted now, but the idea for today's strip comes from a post on the Full Contact Poker forums, where someone made a joke saying that their boyfriend got up and left the room while having sex and then some guy named Sorel came in and said he'd take over from there, which is in reference to Sorel "Imper1um" Mizzi, who was banned from Full Tilt Poker recently for buying stacks of other players late in tournaments.

In other news, JJProdiy has apparently been banned from playing in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. Good decision, Stars! All honest players applaud it.

For those who don't know, JJProdigy is probably the biggest cheater in the history of online poker and he's not even 18 yet. Almost two years ago he was caught multi-accounting after one of his accounts won a huge tourney and shortly after that it was revealed that he was only 16 years old. He was banned from all sites, but he's continued to play on other people's accounts and he's continued to cheat on many other people's accounts, by his own admition. He also backs/stakes many of the top players online today. People like JJ and his friends are ruining online poker and they should be in jail.

JJ turns 18 in a couple weeks, just in time to play in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas, a European Poker Tour event. A couple days ago he posted a public "apology" on the main poker forums, a laughably fake letter filled with obvious lies, like even saying that he was 14 when he was caught multi-accounting, when he was actually 16. The goal of the apology was clearly to avoid getting his ass kicked in January when he's going to face the people he's stolen tons of money from in person for the first time. Scarlett hopes the apology will fail.

For those who don't know, Andy Beal is the billionaire who challenged the top pros in the highest stakes cash games ever, including $100K/200K LHE, where a big blind was worth a fancy sports car (and a small blind was worth a less fancy sports car). Corbin never played with him, of course, but he's just trying to get Violet to agree to buying the car. I haven't played many cash games lately, but I often did the same thing when I was, equating all purchases to how many big blinds or buy-ins they were, based on whatever stakes I was playing at the time. It can really make you spend a lot more than you should on things if you're an idiot like me and Corbin!

This is all absolutely disgusting and makes me more confident in the "F UB" stance that I took a couple weeks back.
